A Giving Italian Verb
Dare – to give – is one of the most common Italian verbs. It’s used just like its English equivalent.
Per esempio…
Ti do una mela. | I’m giving you an apple.
Quest’albero dà molti frutti. | This tree gives a lot of fruit.
Gli insegnanti danno sempre i compiti a casa. | Teachers always give homework. |
Dare present tense conjugations
Dare is an irregular –are verb:
io | do | noi | diamo | |
tu | dai | voi | date | |
lui, lei | dà | loro | danno |
Note the required accent on dà, which distinguishes the third person singular verb conjugation from the preposition da (from).
